Short CV

Konstantinos Mavrommatis is Lecturer in the Department of Informatics and Computer Engineering at the University of West Attica. He received his five-year Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras in 1992. He received his PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering titled “Photonic Tree-Shaped Access Networks: New Architectures And Management Methods” from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 1998. Moreover, he has acquired his MSc Degree from the same University. He has publications in refereed international journals and conferences and he has worked as a Research Associate in NTUA and participated in many research and development projects in the fields of Telecommunications, Computer Networks, Informatics (ACTS 050-PLANET, ACTS 022-BONAPARTE, ACTS-037-ATHOC, ACTS-031-COBUCO, OTE, ToCEE ESPRIT No. 20587 etc.). He has been working as a Teaching and Research Assistant for the Technological Education Institute of Piraeus since 1996. In addition, he has worked as Senior Engineer for Cosmote SA in the fields of Access Network Development, GSM, and introductions of new technologies (UMTS, LMDS, HSDPA, WiMAX, Femtocells, LTE, VAS, Feasibility Study, Service Delivery Platform).
He is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE), Greek Computer Society, PSDMH, and Certified Teacher in non-formal & informal learning for EOPPEP (Ministry of Education, Research and Religion).

Research Interests

Computer Networks, Telecommunication Systems: Architectures and Protocols, Opto-electronics, High-Speed Fiber-Optic Networks.
